I've loved audio since I was a kid, I will never forget my first Harman Kardon HP PC speakers! Since then I've never been good at settling. I always struggled deciding what products to purchase and that’s when I thought I’d have a crack at reviewing products myself. My approach is to lay out all the information of a product and let you decide for yourself if it’s a fit for you.

A few years into reviewing I decided to start the customisable scoring system. Every product is run through ten categories, and every category the product is scored out of 10. For noise cancelling headphones that's build, fit, battery, controls, connectivity, calls, app features, noise cancelling, transparency and sound. Open earbuds don't seal, so there's no noise cancelling to score — those slots go to water resistance, and to sound measured twice, below and above 60% volume. Each type of earbud has a different system with totals that go into one spreadsheet that anyone can download, sort and re-weight. If battery life matters more to you than fit, you can change that in the weighted scoring system.
